What Small Business Internet Marketing Can Do

The world is getting smaller everyday, what with the proliferation of the Internet and the world’s collective information put in one place for all to access and see. They say that whomsoever controls the Internet, controls the world. With that in mind, seeing Google as our cyber overlord is not the stuff of fantasy, with Facebook a close second. However, you still can have a piece of the cyber pie by starting your own small business Internet marketing business. You can start with something big of course, but in this article, let’s start small.

What do I mean with a small business anyway? Well, just like the way the business world works in the land of the living, the cyber landscape is littered with business opportunities. You can start small, that is selling products, services or whatever you have on hand. Or you can start big, that is controlling a big niche like selling a new operating system to a mature market. Seeing how difficult to start big, the best way to start your own empire is to go small first. If things go well, then you start expanding. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Once you have figured out a product that you can sell, say an ebook about the Nephilim and how planet-X will collide with the Earth in 2012, you can now pour your time and effort into Internet marketing. Now, this is the part where things get real, so it’s best to be serious with this part. As you well know, the number of people interested in the Nephilim and planet-X is minutely small, so it is up to you and your marketing skills to let the word out to those people so they can purchase your ebook. First thing to do is setup a website where you can handle the selling, payments, downloads and other logistical stuff. As you do this, make sure that your SEO writing skills is up to par.

Okay, so what’s SEO you might ask? Well, SEO stands for search engine optimization and basically what it does is make sure that your website appears in the search engines. The first page is possible, the first result is preferable. It is what drives Internet marketing so don’t mess this up. Basically, what you do is optimize your website, write content to blogs both yours and others as well as to services, do some backlinking, and maybe add a dash of video optimization for good vibes. As you do this, make sure that you follow the rules of netiquette lest you get blacklisted by overlord Google.

After a few months - a few weeks if you are lucky, a few days if you are blessed by the Google overlord - you will find that traffic to your site will have been increased. This is a good sign. Once this happens, your small business Internet marketing efforts will be all worthwhile. Just remember, do not overdo your marketing since overstepping boundaries imposed by Google can result to severe penalties like having your site never show in Google again. Falling out of the grace of the overlord is never a good thing, believe me. In all, just be focused and passionate with your business, and everything will turn out just right.
